Bear Hunt in Orr, Minnesota:
Five day bear hunt with Big Paws Outfitters, LLC, in Orr, Minnesota. This hunt is limited to 10 women hunters and I currently have 7 spots available. Please see IMPORTANT information below on how to secure your spot on this hunt.

Date:
Monday, September 6th through Sunday, September 11th, 2010

Lodging:
Hunters will stay together in a cabin at Ash Trail Lodge on the Ash River. Meals will be at the Ash Trail Lodge on the Ash River. See their website for photos. Hunters will arrive on Monday morning and settle into their rooms and prepare to hunt on Monday afternoon. Should you need to arrive Sunday evening, the extra nights lodging will be on your own.

The hunt:
Hunting will be from stands over active bait sites that have been monitored with game cameras. Hunter’s choice of weapon; bow, gun or both; it is legal in Minnesota to have both weapons on stand while hunting. The largest majority of black bear harvested in this area are white chest-crested and there are some color phase in the area. The hunt will be on land in a 60 mile x 15 mile radius of a mixture of privately owned, leased and public access land in and around Orr, Minnesota.

We will hunt every afternoon through Friday; five hunts total. All hunts will be in the afternoon unless the cameras that are on the bait show that there is morning traffic at the stand. Cameras remain on the bait pre-season and during the season for a higher success rate for hunters.

Hunters will depart Sunday morning by check-out time. All cabins are located on the water and there are many things to do during non-hunting hours like boat rides to see the falls, boats to float on the river, fishing guides that can be hired and many trails and other activities; or you can just choose to relax on the front porch or down by the river reading a book.

Guide:
The guides will not actually be guiding hunters in the field; however, the guides will insure that the hunters get to and from our stands safely.

The cost for this hunt is $1,750 per hunter. (Discounted from the regular price is $2,195.) There are no hidden costs; transportation to the active bait sites, trophy care, meals, and lodging are included in the cost. This fee does not include your non-resident license, see below.

This hunt is not affiliated with any group, magazine, or sponsorship and is a hunt, not an event with silent auction, games and raffles—no frou-frou here—just an actual hunt. I am not a booking agent, guide or outfitter; I am simply organizing this hunt for other women who would like to participate in a bear hunt. However, I will be filming footage for submission to Up North Journal for the Beyond the Wild series, should you choose not to be included in the footage, you will have the opportunity to let me know that in advance.
