I made it to Henderson, Kentucky by 10:30 p.m. this evening and the trip up was perfect—not much traffic once I got out of Birmingham, Alabama. In the morning I will only have a one hour drive to Carmi, Illinois. I could have drove all the way but since I do not need to be at the lodge until 10 a.m. tomorrow, I wanted to take advantage of getting a good night’s sleep and waking up around 7:30-8:00 a.m. in the morning; which will be extremely late compared to the early hour that we will be getting up over the next week. Thank you to all those who text and emailed me on my trip up wishing us luck and checking on my traveling progress—and some just to call and keep me company—ya’ll are the best!!
Tomorrow, I will finally get the chance to meet Marti Davis face to face for the first time. I am really grateful to her for agreeing to be part of Team Artemis. For my blog readers who are following along you can hear a live interview with Marti and I at Up North Journal, Podcast #132 or visit my column on Women’s Outdoor News to hear and read more about Marti and I and the adventure we are embarking on.
I hope you tune in to this blog to keep up with how the Campbell Outdoor Challenge unfolds, read my field notes, and read about our adventure; the good, the bad, the ugly, and the comical. Feel free to leave comments.
Good luck to those of you that are hunting this weekend.
